In this era of the celebrity hairstylist, big-name salons are often run like assembly lines. But stylist Nunzio Saviano, who built a devoted customer base at Oscar Blandi and Sally Hershberger, has managed to open a namesake spot that feels both exclusive and homey. There are just six chairs (instead of 30) inside this tucked-away converted townhouse, and Saviano takes a “no two heads of hair are the same” approach with both sexes (“My male clients are often even pickier than my female ones,” he says). Women’s cuts are $250; the Naples native is just as likely to give you a transformative pixie as he is to insist (in his warm Italian accent) your request for a Karlie Kloss–inspired chop won’t suit your bone structure. With the guys (from $150), he works snip by precise snip and never with a razor. He also incorporates a spine-tingling hair massage into each wash, purported to stimulate follicle growth.
