The SoulCycle of running has arrived. New York’s first-ever dedicated treadmill gym opened in November thanks to owner Debora Warner, who got the idea after leading park runs and wishing there were a way to let everyone go at their own pace without leaving anyone behind. In a familiar setting—nightclubby room, killer playlists, cheery instructors—36 Woodway treadmills rest on an AstroTurf floor (the ridged surface mimics the feel of trail running). The three classes ($34 each) are called Dash 28 (45 minutes of interval running and kettlebell-lifting), the Distance (60 minutes of continuous intervals and hills), and Ultra (90 minutes of all running). And the trend continues: Equinox recently introduced a similar class.
