Baddies, 18–20 Greenwich Ave., nr. W. 10th St.; 212-645-0018
Strictly speaking, this Thursday-night throwdown at hot spot of the moment Baddies is not exclusively gay, but D.J. and fashion publicist Matt Kays pulls in enough young male friends that the queer quotient is inordinately high. Of course, the popularity of Whipped is not only owed to Kays: It’s also thanks to a soundtrack that segues from the Cure to the Cold War Kids; the sexy, red-lit space; and guest-D.J. turns by the likes of Brooklyn-based rappers Das Racist and the Smiths’ Andy Rourke. The line to get in can be trying, but once you’re downstairs, the vibe is playful, pansexual, and just right.
