We’re sold on the bespoke-cocktail culture’s demands for modern drinking culture—fresh juice, craft ice, and inventive, well-balanced concoctions as complex as anything out of Wylie Dufresne’s kitchen—and at Silver Lining, the food and ambience reach the level of the libations. Chef Ygael Tresser’s bar snacks, like the kefteh sliders and moules au pastis, are every bit as carefully composed as the Pan-American Clipper shaken with housemade grenadine. Live jazz fills the warmly lit Tribeca townhouse nightly, and unlike the city’s many cramped speakeasies, Silver Lining has a generous 110 seats in which patrons can relax in swing-era opulence.
