  AMC’s first luxury ­theater in Manhattan is a formerly rather zhlubby affair that underwent a massive face-lift last summer. It now offers a touch-screen Coca-Cola Freestyle machine (dispensing Diet Coke raspberry) and an expanded snacks menu. But the pièces de résistance? The fusty fabric seats have been replaced with plush red La-Z-Boy–esque recliners that tilt way back—business class–on–Virgin Atlantic way back. Tickets are slightly pricier than the norm ($16; reserve in advance online), and you might find yourself having to contend with a few randy Upper West Side high-schoolers necking next to you, but watching a movie with your feet aligned with your ­torso is, in a word, heavenly.
