Developed by Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist Hilary Hawke, the two-hour folk lessons for young strummers ages 8 to 14 feature small-group instruction on banjo, fiddle, or guitar, followed by all-player jams of tunes by the likes of Woody Guthrie. Each semester culminates in a rousing public recital of Americana standards and square dancing on the Jalopy Theatre stage. Twelve-week sessions run $585, with instruments available to rent.
