All the perfect-gift shops may seem like they’re on Atlantic Avenue these days (the Primary Essentials, Dry Goods), but co-owners and lovers Helena Barquet and Fabiana Faria are making a case for the lower Lower East Side with their menagerie of standing bowls from Fort Standard (from $110), Auntie Oti indigo blankets ($176), and nobby jadeite tumblers ($15). And where the Brooklyn stores tend to be more earnest in their offerings, Coming Soon has a sense of humor: Score a Hot Girls Eating Pizza calendar ($14), or sip a 75-cent beer from the shop’s vintage Pepsi machine.
