The half-French, half-Swiss designer is known for her long, elegant silhouettes, often incorporating men’s-suit fabrics into her ladylike split skirts (not surprisingly, a lot of architects are fans of the label). The cotton summer coats ($540), olive shift dresses ($365), black wool jumpsuits ($525), and fair-trade Alpaca sweaters ($398) are marked by subtle details—bicolors, geometric lines, delicately placed ribbons—and are designed to be easily integrated into one’s existing wardrobe. This outpost of Willi’s two Parisian shops gives Boerum Hill ladies the full Parisian experience, with books by the French architect Charlotte Perriand, cedar-scented candles from Bougies la Française, and a steady stream of French jazz radio.

Bottega Veneta’s famously meticulous creative director has a very different model for his namesake label— no runway show, no advertising, lower prices, and an emphasis on everyday clothing. That includes loose, pajamalike separates, casual cotton shirts, and an assortment of simple black dresses. Maier’s first New York City boutique occupies two levels of an Upper East Side townhouse: For women, there are deconstructed boys’ jackets ($695), a featherlight cotton dress ($985), and a blue silk pajama-jacket to be worn on long-haul flights ($540). Men will find soft crewnecks ($95) and embossed leather espadrilles ($520).

Founder Kris Kim has created a one-stop shop of carefully discreet—and expensive—cult labels: For ladies, there’s a thousand-dollar black hoodie by Yohji Yamamoto, striped long-sleeve T-shirts by Alexander Wang ($140), and cropped tops by Simone Rocha ($270). Men can browse Band of Outsiders button-downs ($235), Junya Watanabe linen bucket hats ($478), and Maison Martin Margiela leather jackets ($3,290). To round out the minimalist’s lifestyle, Kim stocks Japanese porcelain teapots ($75) and subtle lip-and-cheek tints by RMS ($36).
