Before teaming up to open La Corniche in a stately
Upper East Side townhouse, Saïd Hraiche and his brother
Khalil (pictured) managed Sel et Poivre and the Iberian-flavored
Alphabet Kitchen, which explains the presence of pâté
maison and Spanish sardines on their Mediterranean menu.
But all the credit for their tender, gamy lamb-shank tajine
goes, deservedly, to their Moroccan grandmother.
