A glass of Château Ramafort Bordeaux for you, a Milk Bone for your dog—this is the good life as lived at Von. The rather civilized, romantically lit wine- and beer-only bar doesn’t seem like the kind of place where a Labrador named Lou and a Jack Russell terrier named Chicken would be welcome to nuzzle the calves of strangers, but when owners Charles and Kaarin Von began bringing their pit bull Happy to hang around, customers started asking if it was okay to bring their doggies in, too. Generally speaking, underaged canine customers stick to water, but one night a group of revelers encouraged Happy to drink heartily from their beer glasses. Bartender Louis Benghiat reports: “I’ve never seen a hungover dog before.”
