Thinking about going for that bronzed Baywatch look this summer? In Rockefeller Park along the Hudson, sunbathers enjoy impressive views of the World Trade Center, Lady Liberty, and the river (Chelsea boys tend to congregate at the northern end, couples head further south). For a quick midtown escape, you can’t beat the Holiday Inn Midtown’s airy rooftop pool and sundeck (440 West 57th Street, 212-581-8100, open late May–Labor Day; $25 admission). The spot does attract hordes of twentysomethings on weekends, but it’s not a pickup scene: “Most people don’t want to be bothered,” confides one male hotel employee. “Especially the women. Trust me.”
