Food
Best Jamaican Patty
Christie's
334 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn
718-636-9746
Culinary pedestrians who are sick of such epigastric villains as pizza and gyros might as well know about the most perfect street meal: The freshly made Jamaican patty. At Christie's, in Park Slope, patty seekers may find themselves waiting on a serpentine line comprising German tourists (tour bus double parked) and Park Slope patty fanatics, but when they get their first bite of a Christie's patty (beef, chicken, or vegetable), they will inevitably either smile or book a flight to Jamaica. All of the patties in this diminutive diamond-shaped shop are baked on the premises. They were born to be experienced with the shop's sweet coco bread and bracing Jamaican grapefruit soda.
