Men don't have to resort to ties designed by Jerry Garcia or decorated with hula dancers to get a distinctive look. Seigo Katsuragawa holds the secret to nearly unique neckwear in his tiny but tastefully furnished shop. Seigo, who came to the U.S. from Tokyo twenty years ago to attend FIT, sells ties woven in Japan with looms normally employed in the making of kimonos. Though he has a number of long-running classic patterns like checks and dots, the real traffic here is in limited editions of eight intricately colored and patterned ties (most $80) and the largest selection of bow ties in the city ($45-$50). The designs are colorful variations on classic men's themes, so you'll stand out without sticking out.
