This family-owned emporium may not look like much, but it’s got many of the same luxurious linens with the foreign names that stores uptown sell for 20 to 40 percent more. The no-frills front room has the shop’s domestic offerings, but the treasures are tucked away in the back room (where past Levy matriarchs baked bread and tended the kids). Bob Levy hunts for European mom-and-pop talent, whose work he imports directly (he was among the first to offer Pratesi in the States). A queen set of the shop’s proprietary Jillian floral-pattern, 300-thread-count is a steal at $280. For anyone with environmental concerns or serious chemical allergies, the sumptuous offerings at Terra Verde (120 Wooster Street; 212-925-4533), a European-style “green” store, are safe for both you and the planet. Ask to see the luscious mineral-dyed linens from Indika and the organic-cotton bedding from Coyuchi (queen set, $268).
