Ed Faber has steadily been cornering the pre-owned-watch market since the mid-seventies. He’s a picky curator with a critical eye, and the shop’s 1,000-or-so offerings range from incredible one-of-a-kind pieces to a huge stash of sought-after brands, including Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Jaeger-LeCoultre, and Cartier. Some recent finds: an oddball Masonic-style sterling-silver watch from the twenties ($1,850); a WWII Omega with the telltale crow’s-foot mark of a regulation British Army issue ($775); an extraordinarily rare platinum Gruen “Curvex” ($9,800); and a forties retro-modern 14K-rose-gold women’s watch in an exaggerated cocktail style, set with Burmese rubies and diamonds ($1,650).
