“I wanted to bring the Carlyle downtown, but with some irony,” says co-owner Oliver Stumm, who’s transformed the former massage-parlor-themed hot spot into an elite cantina. At the upstairs restaurant, fashion editors drink $13 Moscow Mules beneath Sciolari chandeliers, and on Fridays, Yosef Munro plays pop standards on the house piano. But downstairs feels pure downtown, thumping with nightlife creepy-crawlies moving to Stumm’s house music or sitting back on one of the giant couches and scanning the room.
