Clubland mainstays Nur Khan and Paul Sevigny are chipping just a little bit of the grime off one of the city’s venerable dives, adding new seating, a long overdue women’s bathroom, and a parade of “It” D.J.’s who will (perhaps) restore the place to its circa-2005, home-of-the-Misshapes glory.

Scott Sartiano and Richie Akiva of Butter and 1 Oak attempt to bring the onetime Nell’s space back to its brat-pack heyday. Food Network star Alex Guarnaschelli offers up suitably retro dishes like an oyster-stuffed filet of beef while a house band rips through standards.

A year after opening Avenue, Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss (along with Marc Packer and Rich Wolf of Stanton Social) are repurposing their Las Vegas ultralounge in admittedly less sexy midtown. Like the Sin City original, Lavo pairs a not quite rigorously authentic Southern Italian restaurant with a subterranean nightclub.

After peddling his unique blend of pyromania and pharmacopoeia at Apothéke, mad mixologist Albert Trummer brings Cocktail-style flair to a room loosely inspired by the Moulin Rouge. Bartenders won’t mix cocktails so much as “perform” them off a playbill-themed menu.

Drinks doyenne Julie Reiner (Clover Club) tries to succeed in the bi-level space where another cocktail heavy, Eben Freeman, failed. She is brightening up the former Tailor with wood and shell work reminiscent of her native Oahu, which is referenced in the Pacific Rim–inspired menu and potent, floral Hawaiian Iced Tea.

The former Times newsroom becomes a 50-lane bowling alley, with two nightclubs, a David Burke restaurant, and lounges paying tribute to the subway, the Brooklyn Bridge, and ye olde 42nd Street, complete with faux peep-booth façades.
