Rock and Roll Bier Haus

Brooklyn Buschenschank
320 Court St., nr. Sackett St., Carroll Gardens; 718-237-0325
The raucous beer hall, modeled after the ones in Alto Adige, a region so far north in Italy that they speak German, has upended quiet Carroll Gardens. There are sixteen beers on tap, all from Germany, Austria, and Northern Italy and served in liters, half-liters, and the rarely sold eleven-ounce size ($6 to $12). With those, plus pretzels and pizza (proprietor Jim McGown also owns South Brooklyn Pizza), flowing until 4 a.m. on weekends—as well as communal tables, wall-size windows that open to the street, and a soundtrack of the Clash and the Breeders—it’s no wonder noise complaints have become commonplace.
