reRun Gastropub Theater
147 Front St., nr. Jay St., Dumbo; 718-766-9110; reruntheater.com
This indie screening room, which popped up behind Dumbo restaurant reBar last summer, has something Film Forum and the IFC lack: a top-shelf bar. Film curator Aaron Hillis (a critic for the Village Voice) often asks himself, “What’s going to match a beer?” when programming the theater’s commercially risky movies—like the upcoming Life 2.0. The space is meant to mimic an urban drive-in: 60 repurposed minivan seats, hubcap lamps, and a 360-degree sunset mural. Admission is $5, a bargain considering the high-def projection, clear surround sound, and the option of a six-pack cooler ($25 for Bud Lite) stashed under your seat.
